Uniformed patrol is the largest unit of
the Jackson Police Department. These men and women are the "front
lines" of the department; and, in their marked patrol cars,
serve as the most visible ambassadors of the town, 24 hours
a day, seven days a week.
Patrol duties include pro-active crime prevention, emergency call response, in-depth field investigations, evidence preservation and collection, and the enforcement of state statutes and town ordinances. Through problem solving techniques, officers attempt to identify root problems and offer lasting solutions to resolve citizen’s complaints.
Some of the most common activities of the patrol division include DUI enforcement; traffic enforcement; drug enforcement; and, responding to alarms, neighborhood concerns, domestic violence and other types of disturbances.
While Jackson Officers respond to and investigate all manner of crime, Jackson is still relatively crime free and a great place to recreate, work, live and raise a family.
The patrol unit is not only here to provide basic police services to residents and visitors of Jackson, but with a “customer service” frame of mind, offer many educational outreach and crime prevention programs as well.
Jackson Officers are some of the most highly educated and trained police officers in the nation and strive to provide exceptional customer service and superior, value driven responses to the public. Through our dedication to community policing and problem solving philosophy, we endeavor to maintain a safe and peaceful environment in which people can live and work. The patrol unit’s obligation is to enhance the quality of life throughout Jackson; work in partnership with the community to provide professional services; render aid to those in need; ensure an environment free from fear; bring those who violate the law to justice; and, protect all people, their rights, and property, in accordance with legal, moral, and ethical standards.
