Cpl. Andy Pearson
The quality of those we work with here at the police department is so high, that it is very difficult to pick just one person as employee of the year. You all have accomplished so much, with such positive attitudes that I commend you all. But, only one of us can be chosen as employee of the year.
Having said that, it is with great pride that I announce that the police department employee of 2007 is Corporal Andy Pearson.
Andy was chosen for this honor for many reasons. We are all aware of his infectious laugh, his great attitude, his inquiring mind, his willingness to jump in and get the job done, his great customer service, his sincere commitment to our values and his penchant for seeking the truth. But when you take these attributes and combine them with his bull dogged, never say die determination and his exceptional skill set, you get an investigator who knows no bounds.
Take for instance the serial automobile and residential burglary/arsons. These cases had no suspect information or even leads. Now they are closed and the bad guy is prison bound.
Or the Nate Dickson crime wave. These consisted of property destructions, cruelty to animals, grand larcenies, drug cases and false reporting of an aggravated assault and kidnapping. All solved.
Or the sting operation for a serial pedophile looking for a 12 year old girl to molest. By-bye child molester.
Or clerks office case, or the fugitive hunt for another child molester, or the theft of………Well, you get the idea.
While none of these cases were accomplished without the dedication and able assistance of other department members, they were all a success because of Andy and what he brings to our department and community.
Take these successes and season them liberally with his commitment to the bomb squad, his growing Spanish language skills, his service on the values committee, his mentoring those he works with and mix in his growing penchant for “greenness” and I think you will all agree that Andy Pearson is an exceptional employee and deserves recognition as the 2007 employee of the year.
